Do feel free to contact me (see contact page) via e-mail in relation to possible illustration / design work you may think I'd be suitable for. But please give me some information when you contact me. Every brief is different. I cannot and will not give quotes or even estimates or time scales without relevant information.
Some information you should include if possible:
(If you have a web site or myspace page a lot of this will be covered if you give me the url)
Band Name?
Project title?
Music style, genre?
Country of origin?
Are you signed or unsigned, if yes - which label?
Do you have any artistic / design style preferences? (refer to particular unhinged works that may have interested you if applicable)
Do you have any conceptual ideas?
Do you want the artwork to reflect the lyrics?
Do you want artwork or design or both?
Do you have a logo that you want to use? If so do you have a good high res copy of it?
What format will your package be in? (jewel case - digipack - how many pages? etc)
Do you have a deadline? (very important)
I treat this information with the strictest confidence. I have no problem working with unsigned or budget restricted acts. I support the underground and respect the D.I.Y. ethic. I can work to very specific briefs or I can work with a title and lyrics to create what I see fit, (which often gets the best results). But please let me know beforehand.
There are also some conditions that I require to be met >>
Unless previously agreed: I retain copyright of all original artwork and illustrations that I create (doesn't include logos and project specific design work that would be useless in any other context). This means that you are not paying to own the artwork but to use it under licence. If you want to own it it will cost you a lot more. The artwork will be used only for agreed purposes and the promotion of this. At a later date if, for example, you want to make t-shirts posters for sale or repress in bulk or special packaging or re-release on a larger label etc and this was not discussed at the time of agreement then you will need to contact unhinged to negotiate the use of artwork. I am flexible and it might be as simple as providing me with a few of the merch items. Generally these terms are to protect my artwork from misuse and allow me freedom if I wish to publish the work myself in book or print form. Be assured I have no intention of giving the same artwork to anyone else. If you have any questions about this, please ask.
Payment will be agreed in advance and a 1/3 deposit should be made before work begins. The balance should be paid on completion or approval.
If you have a strict budget let me know in advance and I'll try and work something out with you.
On manufacture, I will require 3 copies of the finished cd. If the project is multi-format then it should be 2 of each format.
Proper credit should be given and should always include the url for www.unhinged.me.uk.
Lastly, sorry if this all seems overly formal but I get a lot of emails saying no more than, "how much for a cd cover?".
